Automotive electronics supplier, Paragon's electric-vehicle (EV) division has secured a EUR1.6m contract to supply battery packs for the electric bus manufacturer Vossloh Kiepe.

As part of the deal, the supplier will equip a fleet of trolley busses from the manufacturer with its lithium-ion battery packs starting from autumn of 2013.

Paragon will initially supply 42 battery packs having a total capacity of 32kWh at a voltage rating of 320volts, while the battery packs for the trolley busses in Geneva and Lucerne are claimed to weigh about 500kg.

Paragon CEO Klaus Dieter Frers said, "Electric vehicles are increasingly driving growth for our business."

The batteries are produced at the supplier's dedicated production facility at its corporate headquarters in Delbruck that is being expanded to over 500sqm to meet the increasing demands.

Features of the batteries include 64 lithium-iron-phosphate cell modules, independent battery management system, thermal management and control module.
